Virginity and purity in the way that women and girls experience it is so individual to every woman, but the overarching weight of the idea of losing this purity seems to be prevalent no matter what. I tried to depict losing this purity as a beautiful experience rather than a shameful loss. Instead of the flower being “ruined” (like it often is when used in metaphors for purity culture), the flower became more beautiful and intricate.
